Set up Proxmox

Proxmox is an open-source virtualization platform that combines two virtualization technologies, KVM for virtual machines and LXC for lightweight container-based virtualization

Download image from ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป ISO

once setup you will get a web interface which look like

Option to create Both VM or Container

Create virtual box if you have cpu intense work otherwise go with container (LXC)

Launch basic vm

1 - Go to ubuntu page and copy the download link

2 - click on local -> ISO image -> Download from URL

Paste the OS URL and click on query url -> download

3 - Then click on Create VM and config VM -> start

Enabling QEMU agent in Proxmox helps smoothly manage VMs by allowing the host to gather info, gracefully shut down, and coordinate tasks with virtual machines. Without it, you may miss features like detailed guest information and risk less graceful

Default USER NAME : root

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In VM there is option cloud-init in which username and password can be set

Launch basic container

1 - click on local -> CT Templates -> Template -> select LXC image and Download

3 - Then click on CT and config Container -> start

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Every Container should have unique Container ID

Default USER NAME : root
